Local Artist Mark Trinham has illustrated a new series of wildlife cards featuring the birds and animals of the region. Each card tells the story of one of our native animals and what can be done to encourage them to continue to live amongst us.  Inspired by collector series of the past, the cards have been produced by the Surf Coast and Inland Plains Landcare Network [SCIPN] 

The cards are the first in a continuing series, bringing to life the wide variety of birds and animals fortunately still found along the Surf Coast and in the surrounding farmland.  The first 45 cards of the collection will be released over five weeks, in five packs of nine cards, commencing on Thursday 20 August 2009 and ending on Thursday 17 September. A Collector Card Album will also be available. Coupons published in The Echo each week allow you to collect the cards and album at the special price of $2.00 for each pack of cards (total five packs) and $5.00 for the Collector Card Album.  At the end of the promotion complete sets of series one will be available from SCIPN.

Two more collections of SCIPN wildlife cards will be released during the next twelve months, a total set of 135 cards. Most of the frogs, reptiles, mammals, bats and freshwater fish and many of the birds of the region will be featured in the cards.  The complete collection will provide a reference point for information about our local animals.

Fund remaining at the end of the project will be used for habitat protection and restoration works across the region.
