We'll be planting, staking and guarding seedling trees in some parts of our creekside landscape that haven't regenerated any tree cover since the gold mining era.
Please come along and help us re-establish indigenous trees in the ‘Honeycomb Bushland Reserve’. You can read a short description of the reserve here.
You’ll also be able to see how 85% of our 2017 plantings have survived in spite of some very stressful drought conditions and extreme grazing pressure from kangaroos and wallabies.
This is a joint activity with McKenzies Hill Action & Landcare Group. Both our groups work to “restore the site’s ecological values” as outlined in the management plan.
We’re aiming to re-establish another 120 trees of seven species. There’s a list of what we’ll be planting at this link where you can see pictures of each species. (The site numbers referred to are as per the published management plan.)
Meet at: 10:00 a.m. at Honeycomb Bushland Reserve, Campbells Creek. Park at the north end of Honeycomb Road where it meets the gravel Trail. We'll finish with a late morning tea at noon.
Please bring: Gloves, hats, sturdy clothing & footwear, protection suitable for the weather, and your own water. We’ll supply the rest - hope to see you there.
