The group has previously dealt with significant weed management issues and erosion control.
In December 2004, the Omeo Landcare Group welcomed members from Dinner Plain.
One past project that focused on weed management, erosion control and waterway revegetation saw improvements to the Livingstone Creek area in Omeo. This was completed in association with the CMA's, East Gippsland Shire, local businesses and Bundaberg Rum Bush Fund.
Residents of Dinner Plain were in a sub group to enable them to concentrate on issues and activities for their local area, with assistance from the main group executive. The key focus has been to establish trails for hiking and mountain bikes, and to publish maps and trail signage. All with the view of increasing tourism to the town, and helping people to access, look after and learn about the unique Alpine environment. These projects have seen partnerships formed with DSE, Parks Vic, Landcare and private landholders and the Alpine Shire, local schools, and community members.
