On Monday 22 February 2016, Federal member for Indi Cathy McGowan congratulated the Mitta to Murray Blackberry Action Group (M2MBAG) for their successful community-led project during a Statement by Members address in the Federation Chamber.

Whilst travelling around her electorate, Cathy has been spreading the word about blackberry action groups and how voluntary management committees are working to generate local practice change and reducing the impact of pest plants.

The M2MBAG steering committee has member representatives from Towong Shire, local landowners and six Landcare groups, DELWP, Parks Victoria, North East CMA, Goulburn-Murray Water, HVP Plantations and AgriWealth.  They are committed to treating blackberries and building community partnerships.
