GLOBAL WARMING / CLIMATE CHANGE
The alarm bells are ringing over global warming.
The vast majority of scientists agree that global warming is real, it is already happening at an alarming rate and it is the result of our activities and not a natural occurrence.
Come and hear JOHN PETTIGREW, one of 85 presenters selected from across Australia to be trained by Former US Vice-President Al Gore as part of The Climate Project supported by the Australian Conservation Foundation. His presentation is based on Al’s Slide Show, and more recently, the movie “An Inconvenient Truth”.
The presentation will review historical data, scientific information, the causes and evidence of Global Warming and Climate Change, likely Global and local impacts and solutions.
An opportunity for questions and discussion will follow the presentation.
John Pettigrew is a horticulturist and farmer based near Shepparton with extensive knowledge in primary production, business and environmental management. John, a Director of Goulburn Murray Water and the Goulburn-Broken Catchment Management Authority, is locally involved in Landcare and Local Area Planning. He is also a member of the VFF, The Goulburn Valley Environment Group and The Environmental Farmers Network.
“Action on an individual, community, National and Global scale is required to reverse this warming of our planet.”
We have all contributed to the problem, John believes we have a moral obligation to future generations to act now. These presentations are a first very small step in that direction.
“ If we don’t act now, what will we tell our grandchildren?”
