26/9/13 - Emailed to Landcare group executives by Kelly Behrens

Dear Landcarers,

I would like to introduce myself, and refresh your memory of Amber as your Regional Landcare Facilitators. Amber and I will be sharing this role and will be based at the NECMA Wodonga office.

The RLF project will still be guided by a community steering committee, as per the previous RLF round.

The focus of the Regional Landcare Facilitator role this time is to support and promote sustainable agriculture and to provide support to community groups. Our project funding is for increasing skills and knowledge through greater access to information, training and other capacity building activities.

About Kelly:

Most recently I was a Catchment Coordinator in the ACT supporting local landcare groups to obtain funding, deliver projects and be a conduit of information between the ACT and Federal Governments and those working on the ground. Prior to that role I was with the Federal Department of Environment administering the Environment, Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) in a compliance and auditing role, as well as assisting with project decisions. I really enjoy working with land owners and community groups and am looking forward to meeting you!

About Amber:

I’m very pleased to be continuing my role as Regional Landcare Facilitator, building on the relationships and successes of the past 2 ½ years. Prior to moving to the North East region, I married into a farming family and spent 4 years on a large sheep station, north of Balranald in Western NSW (during the peak of the drought!). My training and previous roles have encompassed ecological research, consulting and a role with the Australian Government Joint NRM Team as a statewide NRM Facilitator.
