Two events linked to the upcoming LVI Gippsland forum are available for registration, attendees are invited to enhance their experience by coming to these events!

Wed 23rd October 10am - 2.30pm - Field Day - "Pathogens, parasites and pesky pests. New and emerging biosecurity threats in a changing climate."

This field day will highlight biosecurity threats Southern Gippsland Farmers need to be aware of due to a changing climate. Morning Tea & Lunch Included

Field day topics include:

• Biosecurity planning, farm hygiene, current and future pathogens and parasites;

• New and emerging pest plants as a biosecurity threat;  

• Integrated pest management in a changing climate, a horticulture enterprise case study;

• Good and bad soil biology and what to expect in a changing climate;

• Liver Fluke and how to identify it ‘on farm’.

Friday 25th October 1030am - 2.30pm - Farm Walk - "Agroforestry in Southern Gippsland - A Real Adaptation Strategy in a Changing Climate."

Come along and learn about the planning aspects of developing an agroforestry farm. Covering topics from planning considerations to carbon.

In this farm walk, led by landowner Mark Walters, we will be discussing topics such as;

•Social licencing

•Government support

•Management and harvesting

•Code of Forest practice

Speakers include Chris Ranking, South Gippsland Shire Council speaking on planning considerations, and Dr Nerida Anderson, University of Melbourne, speaking on carbon sequestration in an agroforestry situation.

BBQ Lunch provided.
