The Gerangamete Flats Landcare Group was formed in 1993 by five farming families along Dewings Bridge Road, Gerangamete. The group was originally set up to manage the revegetation works and monitor the results and has since expanded to help landowners in the Gerangamete, Barwon Downs and Yeodene area including 20 plus farming families.

The major catchment area is the Barwon River. The priorities of the Group are;

1) To focus on equalities of water for farmers, the environment and water users outside the catchment

2) To revegetate the Barwon River.

3) To control pest plants and animals

Membership based in the areas of Gerangamete, Forrest and Barwon Downs. The group has a long history of revegetation and enviromental rehabilitation works. The group also has an interest and concerns in the health of Boundary Creek.
