The Pierrepoint Land Protection Group area is situated south of Hamilton and is concerned in protecting the natural resources of Mt. Pierrepoint in the south west of Hamilton and the tributaries of the Muddy Creek. The Pierrepoint group has been dedicated to combating the highly invasive environmental and agricultural weed, the Serrated Tussock. While the Serrated Tussock is an ongoing problem, the continual work from landholders in conjunction with the Department of Primary Industries has seen a reduction of the weed in the area. Other focus projects are Gorse control, waterway protection, tree planting and community education.
