Longlea and District Landcare Group are the proud owners of a brand new first aid kit thanks to the Fosterville Gold Mine Community Grants Program.
On 7 November 2015, at the Fosterville Gold Mine Open Day a small presentation ceremony took place. After a very interesting and informative overview of the Mine’s operations and processes from Fosterville Gold Mine General Manager, Ian Holland, Longlea and District Landcare Group President, Adrian Ryan, accepted a certificate and cheque on behalf of the group.
Upon completion of the presentations to the numerous community groups lucky enough to receive a Fosterville Gold Mine Community Grant, we checked out some of the displays on offer. Including an educational discussion with one of the Mine’s geologists whilst inspecting core samples and finishing our visit with an enlightening bus tour of the Gold Mine complete with commentary.
Although the group hopes to never need to use the first aid kit, it is nice to know it will be on hand if required. Various members of the group are also accredited first aiders and will be able to assist any fellow land carers and other volunteers if required.
Thanks once again to the Fosterville Gold Mine Community Grants Program.
