This project is live

This project started on 1 Jan 2009

As a peri-urban Landcare Group in a rapidly developing area, we are concerned at the loss of remnant vegetation and the impacts on biodiversity.

Our group promotes the use of indigenous natives in public places and on private property and enjoys educating the community about the many benefits of indigenous natives over exotics. Initiatives include;

* Creating the Huntly Community Indigenous Demonstration Garden in the Huntly shopping precinct
* Running Indigenous Gardening workshops
* Propagating and distributing the rare Whirrakee Wattle
* Distributing the free 'Indigenous Plants of Bendigo' publication. See https://www.bendigo.vic.gov.au/About/Document-Library/indigenous-plants-bendigo
* Assisting local schools and kinders to plant indigenous native and bushtucker gardens
