The Bayside Community Nursery grows indigenous plants, grasses and trees for planting in Council's bushland, foreshore, parks and reserves and also for public sale.
Become a volunteer at the Bayside Community Nursery
The nursery has a strong volunteer program that contributes to the
propagation and running of the nursery and new volunteers are always
welcome.
The volunteer program provides an opportunity for enthusiastic
members of the community to work alongside Council staff to propagate
from local indigenous bushland plants to provide trees and shrubs to
revegetate our bushland environment.
When you become a volunteer, you can:
Learn how to sow seeds and strike cuttings and care for the developing plants until they are ready for planting out. Purchase plants at reduced rates for your own use. Receive local environment information in the Banksia Bulletin Newsletter. Enjoy participating and learning from involvement in excursions to
other bushland areas and nurseries and from training sessions. Have access to reference material in the nursery library. Become involved in extra activities including tree planting in bushlands and in school programs.
