Herring Island is an important environmental and recreational asset in Melbourne's inner suburbs. The Island contains indigenous vegetation, and provides important habitat for native fauna, particularly birds.

The Friends group is working with Parks Victoria to restore the Island and there is a unique opportunity to become involved in this project, as new members and associates are welcome.

Meet: 10:30 a.m. First Sunday of each month.at Como landing or Parks Victoria Burnley depot.
Bring along a tool for planting (e.g. trowel, small spade, small mattock.). Activity: Planting will be done in June, July and August and weeding and general maintenance will be undertaken from September until May.
