Newham and District Landcare Group (NDLG) started in 2004. Its vision is to enhance biodiversity and natural ecosystems within the local environment.
A major goal is protection and enhancement of remnant vegetation and revegetating areas that will provide links between remnants. This encompasses pest plant and animal control, rehabilitation of waterways and roadside activities. Another goal is development of Newham community through shared involvement in activities that enhance its environment in the broadest sense.
A number of active, funded projects form part of the Campaspe - Maribyrnong Headwaters Biolink.
Specialist groups include Roadside Management, Seed collection/ seed bank / propagation, Wesley Park Interest Group. NDLG works closely with the Macedon Ranges Shire Council, Catchment Management Authorities, local community groups and schools.
There are regular planting and maintenance days each year, as well as hosting a number of education and training events for the local community.
