The Friends of Land and Water Landcare Group is a bunch of not-so-young people who live in the Lifestyle Village in Warragul, and have taken on some environmental challenges in their local surroundings: cleaning up and partly replanting several acres of land outside their back fence; and stabilising and beautifying the banks of a little creek that runs through the Village. By common consent, this group is limited to residents of the Village, but the work is the kind of thing that is happening all over the State, based on local needs and problems, and the 60-to-80-year-old members of FLW are delighted to be sharing and paralleling the work of people all around Victoria. They have realised that a little time regularly invested in working with land and water can bring great satisfaction to them and to their less-active friends.
