With funding from Victorian Landcare Grants in 2013, the LCLN ran a small grant program to support on-ground works that contributed towards our Biolinks Strategy. All Latrobe Network Landcare members were eligible to apply for funding under this program.
Small grants of up to $2,000 were awarded to applicants who carried out 13 fantastic projects across the Network area. Project works that were achieved included:
- fencing off large remnant vegetation patches in the Willow Grove and Budgeree areas
- fencing 3kms of Fells Creek off from cattle near Rosedale, direct seeding a 3.5km length of Blind Joes Creek, and fencing a 1.2km length shelterbelt to link with railway line land in the Rosedale-Flynn area.
- several projects involving planting areas to connect previously planted and established biolinks.
Well done to those who put in successful applications and completed some big projects in a short time frame. In total the funding delivered 15.1 ha of revegetation and 15 ha of remnant vegetation protection.
