The Lismore Land Protection Group (LLPG) based in southwest Victoria has been successful in obtaining $153,247 for a three year project titled 'Improved primary producer knowledge, planning, decision making and adaptation to a changing climate'. The project will be funded by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry FarmReady Industry Grants program.

Activities funded in the grant include:

- Facilitation of the Environmental Best Management Practice (EBMP) program

- Landcare bus trips for primary producers to visit farmers and Landcare groups that have a current climate similar to what is projected for Lismore

- Soils training workshops

- Pasture awareness programs educating primary producers about the impacts of climate change and variability, and the likely impacts on long term pastures in a declining rainfall environment

- Farm carbon emissions workshops

Events will be conducted throughout the Lismore networks area at locations including Weerite, Beeac, Lismore and Cressy. Lismore Landcare Coordinator Karen O'Keefe was very pleased that the project application was successful. The Lismore project is one of 11 funded across the state.
