This event is part of
Torquay Landcare Group again joins forces with Quiksilver and invites Angair to the party. It will be a day of coastal re-vegetation, on pretty tough country. The planting site is Red Rocks, which is adjacent to the Point Addis headland and the great ocean walk.
Quiksilver Federation is again funding a day off for up to 40 members of staff, so they may join in the re-vegetation activities of Torquay Landcare and Angair, on the Surf Coast.
The site chosen is Red Rocks and planters will need to be energetic and wear very old clothes as they are likely to end up as red as the rocks.
June has been selected as the time to plant, largely because hot dry summers and red clay soil don't make life easy for the seedlings.
Plants for the area have been propagated by a dedicated group from Angair (a 40 year old conservation group) and Geoff Clark of Otways Indigeonous Nursery, at Aireys Inlet.
Meet at the carpark at the end of Hurst Road (see map). Walk east along the ocean cliff top track to find the lookout which overlooks Red Rocks: this is the planting site for the day.
A tasty and nutritious lunch will be served by Torquay Landcare, for all volunteer planters on the day.
