The Superb Parrot Project commence in 1993 after research, by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resource, identified the need for the protection and revegetation of box woodland adjoining the Barmah Forest. The forest is recognising as the last known nesting site of the endangered Superb Parrot in Victoria.
