A brief report of BLC's fourth annual silky swainsona survey held Sept 17 2011
A group of 8 Baranduda Landcare members including a family of five tackled the steep off track walk on the northern slopes of the range to record the current circumstances for this plant in the sites previously identified. For the second year in a row it appears very little if any flowering will occur. A number of plants looked quite healthy however and presumably are holding their fire until the next drought eventuates!
Monitoring included assessment of survival, growth & flowering of 11 recently planted tube stock seedlings (raised by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Melb in partnership with DSE) as well as the 38 known ‘wild’ plants.
