This event is part of
The Benambra Dinner Plain Omeo Landcare group and Alpine Shire Council invite residents and visitors to participate in a community planting day to restore sensitive vegetation communities within the Dinner Plain village.
Come and give us a hand planting native vegetation in and around the wetland area.
BRING: Work gloves. Gumboots or waders are handy if you own them. Otherwise dress for the weather conditions of the day. Sturdy shoes and sun-protection recommended.
A bbq lunch will be provided.
- The Alpine Tree Frog is a threatened species. It lives in the wetlands of Dinner Plain, and only a handful of other Alpine areas in Victoria and NSW.
- Weeds have been taking over its habitat.
- The Alpine Shire Council in conjunction with the BDPO Landcare Group have taken on the project to help restore this unique environment.
- An Alpine Vegetation specialist will be on hand to answer questions.
- Other landcare related activities may be offered on the day i.e. weed removal, track maintenance, or rubbish pick up.
- Volunteer your time and enthusiasm. Mix with friendly people and make a difference to our beautiful alpine environment.
