Two parties were found guilty for their involvement in an incident relating to dumping industrial waste.
R and J Brodignon Pty Ltd was found guilty without conviction in the Wangaratta Magistrates Court on Monday May 15th for dumping industrial waste. John Ambrosio was also found guilty without conviction for allowing industrial waste to be dumped.

The charges relate to the dumping of demolition waste by R &J Brordignon Pty Ltd at a premises occupied by Mr Ambrosio, in order to construct a cattle crossing across a waterway.
The court heard that at least 30 truckloads of material such as concrete, bitumen and bricks were deposited at Mr Ambrosio's Wangaratta premises.

EPA Victoria senior manager regional services John Williamson said it was important land owners were aware the dumping of such waste, with or without their permision is illegal.

"We all need to be more responsible in dealing with our wastes. The use of building and construction waste to fill gullies and holes is an unacceptable practice." Mr Williamson said.

"Waste of this nature should be disposed of at a suitably licensed facility or at an approved recycling facility. Dumping it in this manner can contaminate or pollute the surrounding area."

He said that the material used on this occasion had subsequently been removed from the waterway."

The court ordered the parties to jointly pay $15,000 towards a project for the restoration or enhancement of the environment.

The matter was adjourned until early July to allow time to determine where the funds will be directed.
