This event is part of
The Corowa & Rutherglen Landcare Groups are beginning a series of platypus
surveys along areas of the Murray & Ovens River in conjunction with the Australian
Platypus Conservancy. The surveys hope to give us a better indication of their
existence in our local area.
Come along to an information session and survey.
The evening involves a brief training session and then a 1 hour survey, sitting by the side of the idyllic Sunday Creek at Pfeiffer Wines, followed by a light supper and summary of sightings. NB: There’s been one recent platypus sightings from the bridge, so we could be in luck.
Meet at “Pfeiffier Wines” car park, at 167 Distillery Road, Wahgunyah (see map). We will be heading down to the Sunday Creek from there.
What to Bring: People should wear long trousers, appropriate footwear and bring a chair, clipboard, pen, watch, a torch and binoculars if you have them. NB: Some kids under 7yo can struggle sitting still for that long & please don't bring your dogs.
What Else: We will be going cross-country through long grass, logs and sticks, and near water. So beware of trips and falls, snakes etc.
