Guest speaker Cass Davis will speak on "Citizen Science: Community Volunteers keeping a watchful eye on their local waterway".
Guest speaker for the AGM is Cass Davis who is Regional Waterwatch Coordinator with the North Central CMA. Cass will be speaking about WaterWatch. North Central Waterwatch works with local volunteers so they have the knowledge and skills required to collect valuable information about the ecological health of the waterways in regional Victoria. The program supports community volunteers to test waterway health and offers a range of workshops that provide opportunities for community to participate in natural resource management.Citizen science continues to challenge our thinking. Most importantly it challenges how we share information. North Central Waterwatch has been working closely with community and aquatic ecologists to establish outcomes for monitoring programs that empower community and showcase how the data can be interpreted. The benefits of citizen science:• Collect information across a wide area• Volunteers want to contribute to science• Volunteers confidently commit to action and become a voice in their community Often telling ‘good’ stories about their involvement• Cost effective approach to collecting data• Brings community together
Everyone is cordially invited to attend the AGM which will include:
- Consideration of the minutes of the 2017 AGM
- President's Report
- Treasurer's Report
- Election of office bearers
- Setting of membership fees (expected to be the same as last year)

Please note that you need to be a financial member to vote at the meeting - you can pay your membership fees now (see email dated 22 Feb 2018) or at the AGM. If however you don’t wish to pay the fee, you are still welcome to attend the AGM.
Please also note that a financial member may appoint another member as a proxy for the meeting. Please contact Gerry to obtain the proxy form.
