This event is part of
Planting day at Lindsay Park. Visitors are welcome. Morning tea provided.
We'll be planting and guarding seedlings of local native trees and shrubs as a first stage in restoring the riparian environment in this locality.
Wear sturdy clothing suited for the weather on the day and bring gloves if possible. We'll provide the tools needed.
Meet at Lindsay St (previously known as Government Rd). This is the short street west of the Midland Highway (Main Road) that leads to the concrete mix business. Note that Google Maps incorrectly shows Lindsay St also extending to the east of the Midland Hwy.
In 2011 the Friends received funding to revegetate the treeless, weedy public land along Campbells Creek. Our main focus is Lindsay Park which was once a Radiata Pine 'Endownment Plantation' for the Campbells Creek Primary School. The pines were felled sometime before 1990. Since 2000 the Friends have worked at eliminating Blackberry and Gorse and we are doing our best to control perennial grasses and other weeds in preparation for planting this year.
