This event is part of
Removing some Weeds of National Significance from the Castlemaine Tip Buffer. Evening weed removal and clean-up, followed by a free BBQ. Visitors welcome.
The bushland area separating the Castlemaine Tip from the Campbells Creek corridor and neighbouring areas contains a wonderful diversity of native vegetation, especially ground-level plants. It is also heavily infested with Weeds of National Significance- Gorse, Blackberries, Bridal Creeper, Boneseed ....., and is a source of infestation for the surrounding areas.
We'll be removing a manageable infestation of Boneseed, before it really takes hold, working on some of the other weeds, and doing some clean-up. This is our first joint working bee. It's also a great chance to see the area and make a difference. Come for the whole session or as long as you can.
Please bring: water, gloves if possible, and wear sturdy boots and clothing suitable for the weather.
We'll supply: the other equipment needed, the BBQ and salad, including a vegetarian option.
Hope to see you there.
