Today we'll be weeding around our direct sown and planted revegetation in a lovely part of the creek in Castlemaine.

This site has been the subject of sporadic restoration efforts since 1986 when some trees and shrubs were planted. A few years ago, we added more shrubs and more recently, we sowed native grasses and other herbs.

Because the site is so rich in resources for plant growth, the weeds are doing very well and are threatening to swamp some of our revegetation. Removing the worst of them now before they set seed will make a big difference.

Meet: at the end of Cunnack Street Castlemaine for a 10:00 a.m. start.  There's plenty of car parking space.  If you're late, we'll be upstream (east towards Castlemaine) along the trail 90 metres or so.

Wear: light gloves, sturdy clothing suited to the weather and footwear appropriate for wet ground.

We’ll supply: digging implements and bags for transporting weeds away from the site. Feel free to bring your favourite light digging tool if you prefer.

Please bring: your own CoVID compliant mask, drinking water and any snacks you wish. With the CoVID situation, we won’t be able to supply refreshments.

Hope to see you there.
