At the CHills Lounge in December last year, we were introduced to a project that offers our community a rare opportunity to create a shared plan for managing the land and environment that we collectively share here in Christmas Hills.
The Community Environmental Recovery Action Plan (CERAP) project seeks to take into account the Christmas Hills community's views on our local environmental assets, land management and bushfire safety, to develop a plan that provides clear guidance to landholders in Christmas Hills for land and environmental management and fire recovery actions.
The consultants engaged by Nillumbik council, EnPlan Partners, have agreed to provide the Landcare group with an opportunity to input into the early stages of the CERAP process. Darrel Brewin and Alan Thatcher from EnPlan will present the information gathered to date, explain what directions and priorities are emerging, and what form they see the plan taking. Our group has the opportunity to identify any gaps in information or sources, contribute content, and offer guidance on the structure/design of the plan itself.
The planning process is very similar to the one we started a few months ago that we anticipate will enable our group to determine its priorities, and decide what activities to focus on and what things to seek funding for.
Then it will be time to elect the Christmas Hills Landcare Group management committee for 2011.

2:00pm – 3:30pm Environmental planning briefing and input – with Darrel Brewin and Alan Thatcher, consultants from EnPlan Partners
3:30pm – 4:00pm Election – for the Christmas Hills Landcare Group management committee for 2011
4:00pm – 5:00pm Afternoon tea – socialising with neighbours
