This event is part of
The first of out monthly surveys to see what's already there at our pollinator project site that is planned to extend from the Yinnar township to the Hazelwood Cemetery.
Over the next few years we plan to plant patches of plants that benefit native pollinators. (insects, birds, and, if we're lucky, small possums and gliders.)
On Saturday we'll be looking for any flowering plants and seeing what insects and birds we can see.
Please wear clothing to suit the weather conditions and footwear that will let you walk in rough areas and bring gloves.
If you have binoculars, plant books or bird guides these could also be helpful. As will photos of the plants we record.
The image for this event is a beautiful native Yellow Grass Lily that grows on the site. It needs native bees that are buzz pollinators to set seed and multiply.
We plan to return to the site to do more surveys on the 10th of every month. So if you can't make it this time, there's a chance to set a diary date for another occasion.
