The Upper Murray Landcare Network invites you to attend the Soil Health Card workshop and Pasture Trial sites at Burrowye.
The NLP funded 'Land to landscapes - linking sustainable farming practices to healthy catchments' project aims to deliver local solutions to local issues, and to help producers better understand the connection between well-established and managed perennial pastures to improve soil quality.
The Upper Murray Landcare Network in partnership with the Department of Primary Industries, the North East Catchment Management Authority and Local Landcare Groups are pleased to extend this field day invitation to you. The day will be split into a morning session on the Soil Health Card for the Upper Murray and the afternoon at the Pasture Trial sites established in Burrowye.
Morning: The Soil Health Card workshop will be held at the Burrowye Tennis Courts from 9am for a 9:30am start.
The aim of the session is to review the soil testing procedures and design the Upper Murray Soil health card. This session follows on from the field days conducted by Nathan Heath (DPI) in 2006. However, attendance at those sessions is not necessary to contribute to this field day.
Afternoon: Dennis Watson (DPI – Rutherglen) to describe the aims and objectives of the Pasture Trial site.
Dennis will also accompanying the group inspection of the ‘Establishing Pasture on Steep Slopes’ site at Lyle Hardings property, time permitting.
Lunch, Morning and Afternoon tea will be provided.
