Castlemaine Landcare Group's Second Generation grant application to the NCCMA has been successful.

The grant will provide us with $10,000 to carry out a project near the start of the walking track in Happy Valley, Castlemaine.  The project, entitled "Rehabilitating Forest Creek" involves the enlargement of an existing waterhole and the establishment of aquatic and semi-aquatic species, together with related creek-side plantings.  The project also involves removing woody weeds adjacent to the waterhole and the provision of a number of educational-related sessions.

This project will hopefully be one of several over the next few years which aims to re-establish the chain of natural ponds through the Happy Valley section of Forest Creek.
