1. Next Christmas Hills Landcare event

The second Christmas Hills Landcare event for 2012 will be a weeding day to help one of our members with weed control on their property. The day will include some basic weed identification, demonstration of some weed control techniques, and access to the Christmas Hills Landcare Tool Trailer so you can practice these techniques at the same time as helping out a neighbour.

The event is planned for late April, but a date has yet to be locked in. More details will be circulated once they have been confirmed, so stay tuned.

2. CHills Lounge – Good Friday, 6th April
The CHills Lounge (Christmas Hills Community Happy Hour) is on again from 5:30pm onwards this (Good) Friday 6th April at the Christmas Hills North Fire Brigade Station on the corner of Ridge and Muir Roads. Fish will be on the menu, and there will be a raffle. On top of all that, CHills is a great way to meet and socialise with your neighbours. CHills is held on the first Friday of every month.

3. Nillumbik Landcare Facilitator – part-time position – applications close Tuesday, 10th April

The Nillumbik Natural Environment Recovery Working Group (NERWG) has received a share of the Victorian Government’s Victorian Local Landcare Facilitator Initiative funding. This funding will be used to employ a part time Nillumbik Landcare Facilitator to provide local Landcare support up to June 2015.

This position will focus on facilitating the transition of the NERWG into a Nillumbik-wide network of Landcare groups who are focused on sustainable land and biodiversity management on privately-owned, rural land in the shire.

It is expected that the new Nillumbik Landcare Network will be overseen by a Steering Committee with representation from the range of Landcare groups that currently operate in the non-urban parts of Nillumbik. This position will be hosted by Nillumbik Shire Council, and will focus on the delivery of a plan developed under the direction of the Nillumbik Landcare Network Steering Committee.

Applications for this temporary, part-time (0.6 EFT) position (to June 2015; $66,469 - $72,188 (pro-rata) + super) are currently open, with a closing date of 4pm, Tuesday, 10th April.
